Martin E. Segal (1916 – 2012), Founder
Martin E. Segal founded the Martin E. Segal Company, now The Segal Group, on October 15, 1939, in a one-room office in New York City across the street from the Empire State Building. His sister, Esther, was his first employee. In the decades since, Segal has grown to become a leading firm of benefits, compensation and human resources consultants, with nearly 1,000 employees throughout the U.S. and in Canada. Many widely accepted benefits practices were first conceived, designed and introduced by Segal. Here’s a look at some of those innovations, as well as the milestones that have spurred the firm’s growth while striving to meet the evolving needs of clients.
"At Segal, we work with employers and plan sponsors covering millions of employees in dozens of industries across North America. We deliver trusted advice that improves lives. That is Segal’s mission for being in business."
— David Blumenstein, President & CEO of The Segal Group
